Garrett's Wings

Meet Garrett, the inspiration for this organization that bears
his name.  In August of 2007, what is likely most parents'
worst nightmare became our reality as our little man was
diagnosed with a rare, fatal neurological condition called
Infantile NCL.  As we attempted to deal with this devastating
news, we also realized how truly blessed we are to possess
not only the resources to provide for his comfort and care
during his final days, but also a supportive network of family,
friends, neighbors, colleagues and service providers who
have helped us through it all.

Our experiences during this ordeal have also made us realize
that not everyone in a similar situation is as fortunate.  So, in
an effort to help us cope and heal... to make some good
evolve from this heartbreak... and to give Garrett life beyond
his remaining time here with us, we've established Garrett's
Wings.  Please take a look around to learn more about our
purpose and efforts.  We hope you'll find some way in which
you would like to contribute to our mission and, in doing so,
will help give Garrett's Wings to children and families who
    need them.
Activity Examples
We're still in the organizing and planning stages, but you might be wondering  what sort
of efforts we would undertake once we get rolling. Well, here are a few examples:

  • Reading, playing games and spending time with terminally-ill children

  • Coordinating meal preparation and household chores among friends and
    neighbors
  • Planning and conducting various fundraising activities to support research,
activities and other care organizations such as KidsPath

Of course, we're open to suggestions and hope you'll decide to contribute to our efforts
as you would like.
Lifting up little angels through research, comfort and care.
